This advancement will also improve service delivery in that it will cut the delays associated with payments and beneficiaries will be able to access grants without unnecessary waiting.

Changed Dates For Early Payment In April 2025

SASSA has announced the payment schedule for April 2025, giving beneficiaries a firm date as to when they would expect to see money in their accounts. The old age pension grants would be paid first, then the disability grants, followed by the child support and other social grants. To that end, the payment dates have been announced as follows:

  • Old Age Grants: Tuesday, 1 April 2025
  • Disability Grants: Wednesday, 2 April 2025
  • Child Support and Other Grants: Thursday, 3 April 2025

Beneficiaries are advised to check their bank accounts or go to their nearest payment point on these dates. SASSA further assures beneficiaries that payments will reflect promptly in bank accounts and are not expected to be delayed.

Reasons Behind The Early Payment

It has been decided that grant payments will be released earlier than scheduled and according to SASSA as a measure of trying to streamline and avoid payment issues. April is a busy month for public holidays, which can bring about interruptions in payment schedules. SASSA adds on the payment initiation to avoid congestion at pay points due to closures around holidays.

Furthermore, to budget for higher costs in preparation for the Easter period, some families will be better equipped with more financially predictable days of advance payment. Such proactive measures by SASSA are a manifestation of a long-term and sustainable vision for reliable and timely delivery of financial assistance to disadvantaged citizens of South Africa.

Checking Payment Number Availability

Beneficiaries can use the online SASSA website and, or the SASSA WhatsApp service to check their payment status. In addition, the national hotline 0800 60 10 11 provides assistance for customers who need it. When phoning for assistance, it is advisable to have grant reference numbers and personal particulars ready.

Beneficiaries to early payments now look forward to receiving timely financial assistance with which they will meet their expenses when needed. It is a step in the right direction for SASSA towards improving service delivery and ensuring that even the poorest of the poor with social grants receive them without any unnecessary delays.
